Is Your Child's School Bag Too Heavy? Signs and Simple Fixes
Share
School bags get heavier every year. Here are the signs your child is carrying too much and some easy ways to lighten the load.
Signs the bag is too heavy
- Your child leans forward to carry it
- They complain about sore shoulders or back
- They struggle to put it on or take it off
- Straps leave red marks
Simple fixes
Clear it out weekly. Old papers and forgotten items add weight fast.
Use both straps. One-shoulder carrying puts all the weight on one side.
Pack heavy items close to the back. It's easier to carry.
Consider wheels. For kids with long walks or heavy books, a rolling backpack takes the weight off completely.
Our Kids Rolling Backpack switches between wheels and shoulder straps:
- Roll it or carry it as needed
- Waterproof Oxford cloth
- 17-inch size for books and supplies
- Fun designs including unicorn, camouflage, pink, and navy
If your child has ongoing back or shoulder pain, check in with your pediatrician.
