5 Ways to Make Bath Time Fun (Instead of a Battle)
Share
For some toddlers, bath time is the best part of the day. For others, it's a nightly standoff. The difference is often just making the tub a place they want to be.
1. Keep a steady routine
Bath at the same time each evening, in the same order: dinner, bath, pajamas, story. Toddlers push back less when they know what's coming.
2. Let them choose something
Offer small choices, like which towel or which toy comes in the tub. A little control goes a long way.
3. Check the water together
Always test the temperature yourself first, then let your toddler dip a hand in too. It helps them feel ready instead of rushed.
4. Sing while you wash
A silly song for hair washing makes the least favorite part go faster, and gives them something to expect.
5. Bring in a toy that moves
Toys that do something on their own hold attention far longer than ones that just float. Our Wind-Up Crawling Octopus Bath Toy is a favorite:
- Wind it up and it paddles through the water
- Keeps going on dry land, so the fun continues after the bath
- No batteries, just a simple spring mechanism
- Soft, rounded tentacles that are easy for little hands to grab
Always stay within arm's reach of your child during bath time.
