Screen-Free Play Ideas That Build Your Toddler's Skills
Share
Screens are an easy go-to, but simple hands-on play keeps toddlers engaged and helps them build skills they'll use for years.
1. Sorting games
Give your toddler a bowl of large pom-poms or blocks and ask them to sort by color. It builds early thinking skills.
2. Pouring and scooping
Dry rice or beans with cups and spoons (always supervised) is great for hand control.
3. Reading together
Let your toddler turn the pages and point at pictures. It builds language and attention.
4. Building and stacking
Stacking is one of the best activities for little hands. Our Montessori Wooden Animal Stacking Balance Toy turns it into a game:
- Carved wooden animals to balance on top of each other
- Builds fine motor control and an early sense of balance
- A quiet activity for calm afternoons
- Looks good on a shelf between play sessions
5. Play together
Take turns stacking and see who tips the tower. Toddlers love a game they can play with you.
